Uranus into Taurus

1 degree Taurus: A CLEAR MOUNTAIN STREAM

Rather than locate “the good society” in a past “golden age”, or in a distant and probably unobtainable future, they sought utopia in the here and now, through the transfiguration of everyday life.

Michael E. Gardiner, Critiques of Everyday Life

Unity. It is our dream. To unite is to bond through love, the one true bonding agent. The goal of life is love and the blissful experience of it. Love means to unite with our self, with others, with the planet and with God. What is needed for unity to become reality is a revolution in love. Pitambara Das, Revolutions in Love

Uranus changes signs today after a cycle of seven or so* years in Aries. This last chapter has been a bit crazy. The great activator and revolutionary has been speeding through the fiery realms of impulsive Aries – bringing transformation and innovation to your SELF, IDENTITY, and LEADERSHIP abilities. We’ve probably all learned a little about the importance of assertion and owning our position and place in the world. Uranus in Aries has been offering courses in confidence and trusting our instincts – “I just know, I’m just sure” (goddammit!).

What was happening in your world when Uranus crossed the last threshold? In Brisbane town, overflow from the Wivenhoe left the city looking like Waterworld. 300 tonnes of floating boardwalk went flying down the river at 200 kms/hour, and our Prime Minister ended up in hospital with a foot infection. Lucky they breed us tough north of the border.

Right now we have the intense volco in Hawai’i doing all the things Uranus does best – change, disrupt, redirect, destabilise. While at first this can be hard to deal with, it definitely wakes us up and forces us to look around! Uranus also works cumulatively. What may seem like a shock has usually been brewing for some time, and it’s probably the change you’ve been wanting anyway, so hashtag it.

Quicksilver Uranus is challenged with the groundedness of earthy Taurus, but brings new possibilities to all things Taurean. On a personal level, values, finances, work and relationships might see big changes or transformations - Uranus likes to bring innovative approaches to existing skillsets.

Globally, new technologies might revolutionise our approaches to the environment, food and the economy. As Taurus also rules beauty and fashion, these areas may also receive a makeover, in a unique, unexpected, and absurd Uranian way.

As Uranus transits from Aries to Taurus now, you may be receiving information about the next 7 years of your life through energetic foldback. Feelings, daydreams and visions may hold indications of the future you are currently constructing. Enjoy the peep through the curtain while it lasts.

While Uranus and Aries were a “crush and crash” kind of couple, Uranus into Taurus is a completely different flow, a different story…

It’s the 1970s. He’s tall, slender and sleek, with a sci-fi aesthetic. He wears silver pants, an electric blue mohair jumper and smokes tiny cigars on balconies. He’s kind of a genius. She has rosy cheeks, meditates, and wears crocheted anything over peasant dresses with flower prints. She’s kind of a goddess.

On the weekend, he visits her cabin on the outskirts of town. Oatmeal-coloured carpets soften the bedroom and loungeroom floors, while orange patterned lino sprawls everywhere else. There are low wicker couches with cushions covered in paisley and pleasing pastel geometrics. On the book shelf – The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm, Mucha’s prints, a gourmet vegetarian cookbook, a compilation of Zen poetry by Ryokan and multiple issues of Vogue Magazine.

On a small table is her shrine to nature - candles, crystals, incense and a cow horn she found in the countryside. Sliding doors open to a wood veranda with pretty shapes carved out of the palings. There they sit, overlooking the city in the distance and her vegetable garden below. They sip on an elixir of tequila and tomato juice.

Time moves slower here, and it gives his mind some respite from its hyper-hasty wiring. Yet he finds himself resisting it. The beauty, the comfort, the ordinariness of it all is so moderate and passive. He’s a traverser of the outer bounds of the universe, speeding on strings and grids and zooming across all platforms. Compared to that, this life is plodding.

Yet when he surrenders to the pace, he finds he has space to reflect, and his crowds of thoughts gently disperse.

They joke around under the plum tree. She pushes him over. He feels something. What? His heart. “Oh I’m human”, he remembers.

She quizzes him on his life choices, questions him on his values. “Sure he’s flash”, she thinks to herself in a 1970s accent, “but is he chill?” Only then can she trust him.

She’s lived in this cabin for a long time now. So much of her emotional security is in the walls, the carpet, the crochet. Now this slick kid from the city wants to take her on an adventure into the future, the Aquarian age with all its innovative and progressive thinking. What if she ends up compromising the world she’s so steadfastly built for herself? What if she loses her values along the way? What if it’s too disruptive, too fast, too unstable? Just as fear begins to cloud her mind, ding! The oven.

They sit on the floor, eat aubergine lasagne, drink local wine and play jazz records. They discuss how they might live in this modern world, with all its gadgets, gizmos and high-tech conveniences, while maintaining their place in the natural system, in their relationship with the earth and all living things.

She lies down and he gives her a massage with coconut oil. His fingers feel like electricity coursing through her shoulders and spine. She relaxes into it, and allows this new energy to revitalise her. She feels he could bring new possibilities to the things she’s worked so hard for. Maybe they could transit harmoniously together, she thinks to herself.

He knows, however, that there will be contradiction. Push and pull. Struggles and disengagement, dissonance and discord, shocks and uncomfortable revelations.

And they’ll remember. They’re human. Kind of. And they’ve got another 7 years together.

She will be the heart, holding the treasure, and protecting what truly matters. She brings him back into his body when he disconnects.

He will be the mind, clarifying situations with detached logic when the intensity of earthly life feels overwhelming. He will open up communication when she feels too sensitive to speak.

They will find new technologies, new ways to love. They will bring revolution into the everyday and find utopia in each piece of daily life.
